Summer in the Desert - The Girl Who Loved Simple

Summer in the Desert

June 9, 2017
Hola!

It’s officially summer here in the desert. So far June has brought the triple digit temps and they are not going away any time soon. 😓🔥

Tucson is pretty dead this time of year. All the snowbirds have long since left town, and now that school is out all the roads are empty. Nobody seems to stay here during summer unless they have to!

If I’m being totally honest, this is my least favorite season. I hate the heat and tend to get antsy this time of year. The oppressive weather only amplifies my growing desire to travel and get away for awhile.

In order to stay busy during the summer, I’ll be focusing on blogging much more and I’m SUPER EXCITED about it!

My travel bucket list is SO long! My latest obsession is to read travel blogs (like Gal Meets Glam and New Darlings) and dream about being a travel blogger myself someday. But until that’s possible, I’ll have to make do with what I have right where I am. I’ve always taken for granted the fact that I live in a very unique place.

Which is why I’m doing a summer series to highlight all the awesome places right here in Tucson!

There’s nowhere in the world like Southern Arizona. Tucson is the second largest city in the state, located about 1.5 hours southeast of Phoenix. It’s a fairly big city with a small-town feel, and has the best mountains and sunsets.

I’m excited to explore Tucson with new eyes and share the cool places I find! What about you? Where do you live and what do you love about it? Leave a comment and let me know!

Stay tuned for the first place I’ll be sharing right here next week! (Hint: it serves COFFEE! And it’s not Starbucks!) 😋

Hi Becka! I love that you’re taking the time to intentionally find joy and excitement in what feels like the mundane life around you. I’m from southern New Hampshire and I’ve kind of always felt like we don’t have a ton to do here. But I have to say, when thinking about your question of “what do you love about where you live?” I absolutely love the four seasons that we can fully experience here. Each new season brings a new, fresh smell and feel to the outside air that has almost a cleansing quality.
I have to say, I have never been to Arizona and honestly don’t know all that much about the state/what it has to offer so I am definitely looking forward to your future posts! 🙂

Hey Allison! Thanks for your comment! So happy that my post made you think about what you appreciate about where you live! I think it’s interesting that you are from New Hampshire, I actually have an uncle who lives there! He is farther north, in the Conway area. We have gone to visit multiple times and it is so beautiful! One of the few states I have actually been to! 😂 Thanks for following along!
